Yes, all of our shot plate can be used in a press. Be sure to anneal your metal regularly.
How much silver shall I use with this design?
You can use approximately 4.5g of silver with this design.
What shape of silver should I use?
Small flat ingot:
Flatten a round ingot to a thickness of approximately 2mm so it covers the design. Press until you have an outline of the design. Trim, anneal and repeat until you have a full depth impression.
Flat sheet:
Cut sheet to size so that it covers the design. Press until you have an outline of the design. Trim, anneal and repeat until you have a full depth impression. Thinner sheet can be used with urethane as a pusher to create a hollow impression.
How do I get the metal out of the die?
Ensure the dies are free from dust and debris before use. Wipe a very small amount of oil into the die before forming as this will also help removal. Use slightly more metal than you think you need to fill the dies. The excess metal will create a flange around the die that will aid in removing the metal from the plate after hammering/pressing. Carefully use a narrow bladed knife under the excess metal to lever the impression out of the die.
